M2 CS Racing

BMW Motorsport has announced a new M2 Cup Series that will run support races on DTM weekends in 2021. The series is designed to serve as a platform for young drivers to display their capabilities. Participants will compete in the M2 CS Racing.

To run the series, BMW is partnering with Tolimit GmbH, a company that BMW says “has made a name for itself in various areas of customer racing and talent development over the past 25 years.” Thomas Felbermair, Vice President Sales and Marketing, BMW M GmbH, says, “With the BMW M2 Cup, we want to provide an attractive, affordable platform for talented drivers, allowing them to prove their driving skills in the DTM environment and to allow them to make the step up if they are successful. I am delighted that we have been able to choose Tolimit as our partner for the execution of the one make cup, as they will provide total support for our focus on driver development and also boast decades of experience in motorsport.”

The series will run twelve races scheduled over the course of six DTM events, as follows:

  • 2nd-4th July 2021 Norisring (Germany)
  • 23rd-25th July 2021 Lausitzring (Germany)
  • 20th-22nd August 2021 Nürburgring (Germany)
  • 3rd-5th September 2021 Red Bull Ring (Austria)
  • 17th-19th September 2021 Assen (Netherlands)
  • 1st-3rd October 2021 Hockenheim (Germany)

BMW exited the main DTM series at the end of the 2020 season as the series’ Class 1 era came to a close. The main DTM series in 2021 is a GT3 series for privateer teams; to date, no BMW teams have entered.
