BMW M Motorsport has added one more factory driver to the roster for 2026, with 21-year old German driver Tim Tramnitz becoming the latest and youngest member of the team. That means there are 23 works drivers from 11 different countries that will represent BMW M Motorsport in 2026.

Tramnitz has competed in the FIA Formula 3 championship over the last two seasons and finished fourth in the championship in 2025, driving for MP Motorsport. He won the Sprint race at Imola and had podium finishes in Bahrain and Austria last season. Formula 3 is the third tier on the ladder for Formula 1. In 2021, Tramnitz was runner-up in the German and Italian F4 championships, and prior to 2021 he was very successful in karting.

Tramnitz was chosen as a works driver after a successful test in the M4 GT3 EVO. “We are very pleased to have Tim Tramnitz, one of the greatest German young talents, in our ranks,” said Head of BMW M Motorsport Andreas Roos. “In January, we evaluated several junior drivers during a test in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, as we deliberately wanted to add another young member to our line-up. Tim impressed us with his performance and steep learning curve during his GT3 race car debut. I am sure we will have a lot of joy with him in the future.”

Although BMW M Motorsport hasn’t said where he’ll race yet, they did say he would compete in “selected races in 2026.” It’s doubtful we’ll see Tramnitz race in the U.S. this year, as we expect he’ll end up racing in Europe. Besides Tramnitz, the only other new driver to join BMW for 2026 is Jordan Pepper from South Africa. Jesse Krohn and Madison Snow have both left the driver lineup for 2026. American drivers on the roster include Bill Auberlen, Robby Foley and Connor De Phillippi. Auberlen is the longest-tenured BMW factory driver, having been on the roster since 1996.
