Schubert Motorsport has a long history of racing with BMW M Motorsport and has a full schedule in 2022, competing in both the DTM and ADAC GT Masters championships with the M4 GT3. The team from Oschersleben, Germany has two entries in the ADAC GT Masters, with works drivers Jesse Krohn and Nicky Catsburg in the #20 M4 GT3 and Ben Green and Niklas Krütten in the #10.

In what has been a bit of a surprise, it’s the young duo of Green and Krütten who have the upper hand in the season so far. In the first two races at the Oschersleben circuit, it was Krohn and Catsburg who had the best start, with an eighth-place finish in race one and a strong fourth in race two as Green and Krütten finished in eleventh and sixteenth respectively. However, Green and Krütten were able to turn it around in a major way in the series second round at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, winning both races to take the lead in the driver’s championship and put Schubert into the lead in the team championship. Krohn and Catsburg also had strong results in Austria, finishing fifth in race one and second in race two. With three top fives in four races, Krohn and Catsburg were fourth in the driver championship rankings after the Red Bull Ring weekend.

Green and Krütten are both new to GT3 racing. Green won the British GT GT4 class championship last year in an M4 GT4, and Krütten has prototype experience in LMP2 cars. “I was nervous at the start, but got away well,” said Krütten after the second race. After a few laps, the race at the front had calmed down a little and I tried to look after the tires for Ben’s stint. That worked well and allowed Ben to secure the win. I cannot yet believe that we won again today, after our maiden victory on Saturday. It is unbelievable.”

The next race weekend for the ADAC GT Masters is at Zandvoort in Holland on the weekend of June 24th-26th. The last three rounds of the series will all be in Germany, at the Nürburgring, the Lausitzring, the Sachsenring and the finale at Hockenheim. —David Haueter
