Congratulations to the winner of this week’s $50 Shell fuel card, E30 Chapter president and all-around BMW enthusiast, Chris Chappell, who won thanks to this photo of his F10 535i filling up with V-Power NiTRO+.
While his history is with E30s, Chris is no stranger to contemporary BMWs. “I’ve been lusting after an F10 M Sport since they came out” he tells us. “I sold my E39 530i in February 2017 and picked up an E90 328i to replace it. It was a great car, but I came to realize it wasn’t what I really wanted.”
“The day before my birthday I received an alert that this 535i had popped up on Autotrader. I knew I had to go look at it because it ticked every box on my “must have” list and then some, including a transferable CPO warranty. I arranged to meet the seller the following day, which happened to be my birthday. After taking a cursory test drive accompanied by a friend who works in the vehicle wholesale industry, I negotiated a purchase price on the spot and picked it up that evening.”
The modern 5 Series, finished in Glaciersilber Metallic over black Dakota leather with a variety of M Performance accessories, is not without its charms, even compared to the E30. “My favorite thing about the car is that it always puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel. I’m really happy to be back in a 5-series—the original executive sedan!”
Chris is no stranger to the BMW Car Club of America, either. “I first learned about BMWCCA when I bought my first E30 in 2010, and joined the club in 2015 as a founding officer of the E30 Chapter. Easily my favorite part of being a BMWCCA member is the social aspect. Getting together with fellow BMW enthusiasts and sharing our passion for cars, especially when it’s accompanied by a beer or a wrench, is something I always enjoy doing.”
