Colin Turkington in the #2 West Surrey Racing BMW 125i M Sport clinched the British Touring Car Championship drivers’ title in the second of three races in the season finale at Brands Hatch. BMW won the series’ manufacturers’ championship and West Surrey Racing won the team title.

Turkington extended his lead over his sole remaining title rival, Toyota racer Tom Ingram, by finishing twelfth to Ingram’s fourteenth in race one. Ingram finished fourth in race two while Turkington finished out of the points in 22nd after contact between his car and Dan Lloyd’s Honda Civic took him out of a point-paying eleventh position. But Ingram did not gain enough points to make a title win possible in race three. Turkington finished out of the points again in race three, while Ingram finished fifth.

West Surrey Racing’s Andrew Jordan was the best BMW finisher of the weekend, coming across the line eighth in race one, third in race two, and ninth in race three. Ricky Collard, still substituting for his injured father Rob Collard in the third WSR 125i, finished sixteenth, eighteenth, and thirteenth. Honda racer Dan Cammish won races one and two, and Subaru’s Ash Sutton, the defending series champion, won race three.

Turkington’s championship was his third in BTCC competition.
