The BMW M2 is about to get even grippier. BMW’s own U.S. website leaked plans for almost all of its upcoming models for the 2027 model year, including an M2 xDrive. The leaks have since been discovered and taken down, but not before the internet took some cheeky screengrabs to prove it, which you can see at Motor1.
Of all the leaks, the BMW M2 xDrive is the biggest. It might not come as a surprise, exactly, as this seems to just be the natural order of Bavarian cars lately, but it’s still big news to see the M2 get all-wheel drive for the first time.
BMW pulled off something of a magic trick with this M2. It’s bigger, heavier, and more capable than ever before, but it still manages to be fun. It’s alarmingly fast, razor sharp, and far stickier than any rear-wheel drive car of its size has the right to be. However, some more old-school BMW enthusiasts don’t appreciate the newer car’s newfound heft — the M2 weighs can weigh over 3,800 pounds with an automatic transmission.

Existing frustration over the G87 M2’s curb weight will only be exacerbated by the addition of all-wheel drive. While there’s no official curb weight just yet, we can expect around extra 99 pounds, as that’s how much more the M4 xDrive weighs compared to the standard rear-drive model. And since the M2 shares so much of its chassis and suspension with the M4, it seems likely that it will have a similar increase. That would make the M2 almost 4,000 pounds.
Fear not, though, BMW enthusiasts. The wizards in Garching have consistently proven that they know how to defy Newton’s laws and turn even the heaviest of bears into accomplished dancers. Furthermore, BMW engineers are among the best in the business at making all-wheel drive cars handle well, with balance and a rear-drive feel. Their most recent, and probably most impressive, proof of such skill is the BMW i3 prototype, which was able to feel like a rear-wheel drive drift machine, despite being an all-wheel drive electric sedan.
Some other notable leaks include the existence of an upcoming BMW iX4 40 (both sDrive and xDrive), as well as an iX5 60 xDrive. But the big story is that BMW will give customers an M2 that can be the manic little missile that it is in all kinds of weather.
