In a video posted to BimmerWorld’s Facebook page, James Clay explains that he will not be taking the spectacular E36 Bergsteiger hillclimb car to Pikes Peak until 2021.

The video, that clearly conveys Clay’s passion for the program and the effort that has gone into the build, appears here.

Among the factors leading to the postponement are: schedule restrictions on the development plan imposed by the coronavirus epidemic; the demands of BimmerWorld’s ongoing race programs in both the Michelin Pilot Series and SRO; and direct conflict between the August 30 Pikes Peak hillclimb date and the SRO August 28–30 Road America date. The factors combine to lead Clay to the conclusion that “This year we are not going to be able to run the car properly and bring the result we want to bring.”

BimmerWorld’s build of the car is documented on the BimmerWorld website.
