All-electric MINIs aren’t exactly new, as we’ve published dozens of articles about the efficient, fun cars. But one type of MINI had held off on going full-electric until it could successfully carry the performance torch of its gas-powered predecessors: the John Cooper Works models.
It seems time and technology have finally reached the point where MINI feels comfortable applying their performance name (as well as taking a que from computer-manufacturers by adding a “PRO” to the name to show they’re serious) to an all-electric model, the MINI John Cooper Works E PROtotype.
BMW Group will give everyone a preview of the new PRO electric JCW at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week, a bit ahead of the official world premiere.

In a nod to MINI’s historic victory of the Mini Cooper S at the 1964 Rallye Monte Carlo 60 years ago, the racecar features a distinctive camouflage designed by the MINI Design Team, and the “37” logo, commemorating this milestone achievement. This emblem serves as a homage to MINI’s rich motorsport tradition.
