The BMW Car Club of America, the Audi Club of North America, and the Mercedes-Benz Club of America are pleased to announce the eleventh annual Legends Of The Autobahn® West, presented by Michelin. Celebrating Monterey Car Week, Legends will be held this year in Carmel Valley Village on Saturday, August 14.
Yeah, like you needed an excuse to run the Laureles Grade road!
And this year it looks like we’re invading en entire community. The new location, just over the Los Laureles Grade from Highway 68, will provide an incredible backdrop for the all-German concours event. More than 300 cars will be displayed throughout the village streets and community park, along with exhibits from event sponsors. Spectators and participants will be able to enjoy the surrounding tasting rooms, restaurants, art galleries, and shopping, which will further enhance the Legends experience.
“It is with great pride and anticipation that we bring Legends Of The Autobahn to the unique and beautiful setting of Carmel Valley Village,” said BMW CCA executive director Frank Patek once the official confirmations and approvals had been signed. “Attendees can look forward to beautiful weather, German engineering, and a leisurely day of wine, food, and shopping.”
Over the years, Legends has become an international sensation among German-car enthusiasts, with widespread coverage in the automotive media. In 2019, Legends Of The Autobahn was voted the Number four car show in America by the USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Poll.
The event has also been the site of numerous highly-anticipated unveilings including the BMW 328 Hommage, the Zagato Z4 Roadster Concept, and the M4 GTS. For 2021, BMW will display the fully electric BMW iX Sports Activity Vehicle and the new i4 Gran Coupé, thus ushering in a new level of the exciting new electric era for the brand. In addition, all versions of the new sixth-generation M3 and the second-generation M4 will be on display.
Legends Of The Autobahn couldn’t have achieved such success and prominence without the support of many including our volunteers, members, attendees, fans, and sponsors. Those amazing sponsors include Michelin, BMW NA, Akrapovič, XPEL, Hagerty, and Griot’s Garage, who will all join us in 2021 for the start of a new tradition in Carmel Valley Village.
Registration for show participants and spectators will open on Wednesday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. PDT/2:00 p.m. EDT at LegendsOfTheAutobahn.org. This event will be operated in accordance with all federal, state, and local guidance standards, and as a result, advance spectator registration may be required. As always, spectator admission will be free, but there is a very real possibility that we may be required by state regulations to ask all spectators to register in advance in order to attend the show. Between now and August, please visit the event website frequently for further guidance!—Chris Hennecy
