“Given our current environment, I have definitely been spending more time at home,” said LaPorta. “However, I am taking advantage of the reduced Southern California traffic and driving my BMW’s more than usual. I have also managed to do several 500-plus-mile road trips to the California Central Coast with other BMW CCA members.”
Asked how he discovered the BMW CCA, LaPorta said, “I have been a fan of BMW since I was thirteen and took a test drive with my father in a 1983 533i Sport. After that experience, I saved as much money as possible and when I turned sixteen purchased a 1976 Chamonix 2002. Joining the BMW CCA was a natural progression.”
Tell us more about your BMWs!
“I have owned many BMW’s over the last 30 years ranging from M cars to vintage. I currently own a Euro 1967 2000 Neue Klasse, which was built and used for The Targa California. I also own an original California Black Plate 1968 2002 in Polaris Silver with blue interior. The car in the Instagram photo is my 1973 3.0 CS “coupe” and I recently acquired my father’s 1990 E30 convertible, which was owned by two prior BMW CCA members.”
