Three Tire Rack BMW CCA Club racers won the 2019 west coast Yokohama Challenge awards in an event at Sonoma Raceway on September 7–8.

Ralph Warren, who races a B-Modified E90 M3 was the first-place winner, Vic Pizzino, who runs a C-Modified E46 325i was second, and Julie Wolf, who campaigns an I-Prepared E36 325is was third.

The same three racers had won the west coast awards in 2018, when they were given out at a November event at Thunderhill.

To be eligible for the Yokohama Challenge, racers had to compete in two or more BMW CCA Club Racing events in 2019 prior to the Sonoma race weekend. The awards were based on performance in the races run at Sonoma; racers were awarded points for class positions plus additional points based on the number of cars competing in their class.

The awards were gift certificates for Yokohama race or street tires. The award for first place was $3,000, second was $2,000, and third was $1,000.

This was the second year for the awards, given as part of a multi-year partnership between Yokohama and the Tire Rack Club Racing Series. The 2019 east coast awards were presented at Road Atlanta on Labor Day Weekend.—Brian Morgan
