The BMW Car Club of America, the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, and the Audi Club of North America, who collectively host the annual Legends Of The Autobahn event presented by Michelin, today announced the cancellation of this year’s show scheduled for Friday, August 14, in Monterey, California. However, participants and fans of the all-German marque Concours d’Elegance will be pleased to hear the event will return to the Monterey Car Week schedule in 2021.
“The Mercedes Benz Club of America, the Audi Club of North America, the BMW Car Club of America, and the Club at Pasadera have worked in close partnership for the last eleven years to bring together our members, their cars, the local community, and attendees of Monterey’s famed car week,” said Frank Patek, Executive Director of the BMW CCA. “We intend to do so for many more years to come, however we will only do so when it is safe for our guests and our members. While this decision was difficult to make we believe it was the right one.”
The show has run for ten consecutive years and become a must-see event on the Monterey Car Week schedule for all. Each year, the Concours d’Elegance draws over 400 registered cars and over 3,000 spectators that fill the fairways of The Club at Pasadera. In 2019, Legends Of The Autobahn was voted the number four car show in America by the USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Poll.
Legends couldn’t have achieved such success and prominence without the support of many including our volunteers, members, attendees, fans, host venue, and sponsors. Although, this year’s event will not take place, we cannot go without specifically thanking our major sponsors who have shown incredible support including Michelin, XPEL, Hagerty, and Griot’s Garage. In addition, The Club at Pasadera, its membership, and the Pasadera community have been amazing hosts and we look forward to working with them again in 2021.
Plans are being made now for next year’s event and triumphant return to the Monterey peninsula. Further updates regarding the 2021 edition of Legends will be announced in late 2020 at legendsoftheautobahn.org.—Chris Hennecy
