Congratulations to this week’s Shell Fill-Up Friday winner, National Capital Chapter member Doug Rodriguez, who won a $50 Shell gift card thanks to this picture of his E39 M5 filling up at Shell!
“I’m the second owner of this 2001 BMW M5 in Carbonschwarz Metallic,” said Doug. “I purchased the car online from a dealer in Chicago, and it was delivered to me in Minot, ND. I meet the transporter at a mall parking lot because the 18-wheeler couldn’t make the turns in my neighborhood at the time, ha! I recall the only other vehicle aboard was a Dodge Viper being delivered to Canada, so the car had a good travel buddy! At the time, the M5 had over 74,000 miles, and I’m happy to say it’s still going strong as it comes up on 275,000! The M5 still performs so well even after 18 years! Currently, it has a stock wheel setup on Bilstein PSS, front lip, a Alpha-N (MAF-less) tune from Evolve, and aftermarket LED fogs.”
Asked how he discovered the BMW CCA, he said, “I learned about the CCA back in 2008, but didn’t fully discover the club until 2010 while living near Kansas City. I just wanted to explore the area and meet like-minded enthusiasts. I was hooked, as the members were welcoming and just awesome to hang out with. I participated in a lot of cool events with the KC chapter that I remember fondly today. The people are what keep me coming back!”
