Colin Turkington in the #2 Team BMW/West Surrey Racing 330i M Sport won the third race at the British Touring Car Championship event at Croft on September 19. It was the defending champion’s 59th win, coming in West Surrey Racing’s 700th BTCC race. He had finished fourth in race one and then seventh in race two, when he recovered after being forced off course.
Turkington’s teammates both had difficult race weekends. Stephen Jelley, on track for a ninth-place finish in race one, was forced wide and fell to thirteenth. He finished tenth in race two, and was spun off course while running tenth in race three, ultimately finishing fourteenth. Oliphant, starting sixth in race one, was hit on the first lap. He finished twentieth. Then, a broken suspension after contact with a curb took him out of race two. He came back to finish thirteenth in race three.
Cicely Motorsport 330i M Sport racer Adam Morgan finished eighth in race one, ninth in race two, and seventeenth in race three, while his teammate Tom Chilton finished eleventh in race one, seventeenth in race two, and tenth in race three.
The series runs again next weekend at Silverstone.
