Marco Wittmann in the #11 Walkenhorst Motorsport M6 GT3 scored his second win of the DTM season in the Saturday race at Assen in the Netherlands, recovering from a slow pit stop that dropped him to fifth to secure the victory. Sheldon van der Linde in a Rowe Racing M6 GT3 finished sixth on Saturday.

Wittmann finished on the podium again on Sunday, coming in third behind Mercedes racer Lucas Auer and Liam Lawson in a Ferrari. The nineteen-year-old Lawson leads the points going into Hockenheim on the first weekend in October. Wittmann, a two-time DTM champion, is second in points.
