Mikkel Jensen and David Pittard in the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport M6 GT3 won the four-hour NLS (formerly VLN) season opener on the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring on June 27. Pittard was leading when he was passed by Mercedes’ Maro Engel with ten minutes remaining in the race. Engel crossed the finish line first, but the M6 GT3 was declared the winner after Engel’s team was penalized for a short pit stop.
Michael Schrey, Michael Fisher, and Gabriele Piana in the #192 Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport M4 GT4 led an M4 GT4 podium sweep in the SP10 class, while Pixum CFN Team Adrenalin Motorsport’s Francesco Merlini, Sindre Setsaas, David Griessner, and Yannich Fubrich won the all M240i Racing Cup 5 class.
The event was run without spectators and with social distancing measures in place for the teams.—Brian Morgan
