Japanese racer Kamui Kobayashi will race one of the three M4 DTMs that BMW is entering in the November 22–24 Super GT x DTM Dream Race on the Fuji circuit in Japan. He will join Allesandro Zanardi and a third driver to be named as BMW approaches the event, which marks another step in the coordination of the DTM and Super GT series. Cars from the two series ran together for the first time in the DTM finale at Hockenheim on October 5–6, where three Super GT cars were on the grid.

Kobayashi, who has run in Formula One and at Le Mans, raced briefly in Formula E for what was then the MS&AD Andretti Formula E team.

BMW motorsport director Jens Marquardt said, “Like Alessandro Zanardi, our second driver for the Dream Race is another real gem. Kamui Kobayashi will make his race debut for BMW Motorsport and is sure to attract plenty of interest in the ‘Dream Race’ from many of his Japanese compatriots and fans. Kamui has shown his class and versatility in Formula 1, Le Mans, and the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. He is sure to be fast in the BMW M4 DTM too. We will reveal the third driver in our ‘Dream Team’ for Fuji shortly.”—Brian Morgan
