Polish rally ace Jakub “Kuba” Przygonski scored a victory on home soil as he and his Belgian co-driver, Tom Colsoul, won the three-day Baja Poland FIA cross-country rally in a Mini John Cooper Works Rally. His countrymen, Krzysztof Holowczyc and co-driver Lukasz Kurzeja, finished second in another Mini John Cooper Works Rally.

Przygonski said, “Tom and I are so happy. It was a really important race for me, because we were racing in my home country of Poland, and the goal was to be as fast as possible. Our Mini John Cooper Works Rally was really good, perfect from the start, so I was able to push from the beginning. We had one flat tire, but the rest of the race was perfect. Tom made a good race; he was ready for this race before we started. The result means more points for the championship… so I’m really happy.”

The win strengthens Przygonski’s lead in the series with two events remaining, one in Morocco (October 3–9) and the finale in Portugal (October 25–27).—Brian Morgan
