BimmerLife recently caught wind that our Windy City BMW Chapter was recognized by Mecum Auctions as their May 2023 Club of the Month. In a BimmerLife interview with the chapter’s Newsletter Editor Barbara Adams last year, it’s clear to see why such a large and active chapter deserves recognition for continuing to engage BMW enthusiasts for the past 51 years.
Mecum Auction’s Brian Thalhammer notes the chapter’s long history and geography, writing, “Founded in 1972 by a group of passionate BMW enthusiasts, the Windy City BMW car club is one of the largest and most active chapters of the BMW Car Club of America, spanning from the Chicagoland area to Northeastern Illinois and stretching north to the Wisconsin border, east to Lake County, Indiana, west to the Mississippi River and south to Kankakee, Illinois. With more than 1,500 members participating in BMW-themed affairs, the Windy City BMW club considers itself to be ‘Not only a car club but a social environment,’ according to Barbara Adams, editor of the chapter’s newsletter [named] Breeze.”
