wittmannzolder

Marco Wittmann in the #11 Walkenhorst Motorsport M6 GT3 won the Sunday DTM race on the Zolder circuit in Belgium. It was his first win in DTM competition since 2019, and the first-ever for Walkenhorst in the new all-GT3 car DTM format. Wittmann was the best BMW finisher in the Saturday race, in which he came in fifth.

Wittmann led the Sunday race the entire distance, holding off Mercedes’ Lucas Auer, who fell back after a penalty late in the race. Mercedes racer Maximilian Götz was second. Sheldon van der Linde finished seventh in a Rowe Racing M6 GT3, and his teammate Timo Glock was seventeenth.

On Saturday, when Audi’s Kelvin van der Linde won, Wittmann ran near the front early, but fell back after his pit stop. Glock finished eleventh on Saturday while Sheldon van der Linde finished sixteenth.

The all-M2 CSR M2 Cup series ran as a support event at Zolder. Fabian Kreim won race one and Louis Henkefend won race two.
