New BMW CCA National Board members were recently welcomed and installed as official members of the board during the recent annual meeting held on April 9.

The Club welcomed back past North Atlantic Regional Vice President, Lou Ann Shirk, to the board as she was appointed Executive Vice-President. The EVP seat was vacated by Eddy Funahashi, who ran unopposed for President as long-serving President, Steve Johnson, reached the end of his term.

LouAnn Lonny Shirk

Shirk is a member of both the Nittany Bimmers and Florida Suncoast Chapters, is the immediate past chair of the Ladies Program Committee, and she and her husband, Lonny, have both received the distinct Friend of the BMW CCA honor, which is the highest national recognition that a member can receive.

Also joining the national board is Simone Harrison, who succeeded incumbent Dwayne Mosley for the position of South Atlantic Regional Vice President. Harrison joined BMW CCA in the mid-1990s and has been an active participant in autocross events, HPDEs, Concours, club race schools, and social gatherings.

Before joining the national board, Harrison served on the Peachtree Chapter Board for over five years, working as member at large, Vice-President, and most recently as Chapter President.

Another new face to the board is Iowa and M Chapter member David Brighton, who takes the reins from Tim Beechuk. Brighton was elected to the position of North Central Regional Vice-President and most recently held the position of President of the Iowa Chapter.

David Brighton

Brighton was elected to the Iowa Chapter Board of Directors in 2005 and then President in 2011. During his tenure as President, Brighton received the Outstanding Officer Award and the Iowa Chapter achieved the number one ranking for all chapters in the North Central Region in a 2013 national BMW CCA survey.

Please join us in welcoming our new board members and applauding them for their dedication and service to the club. Without our volunteer leadership, we wouldn’t be the incredible enthusiast organization we are today.—Chris Hennecy
