The following is an announcement from TRSS Officials:

After much research and intense discussion—in the interest of the safety of all participants in this time of COVID-19—the Sports Car Club of America, the SCCA Foundation, the Porsche Club of America, the BMW Car Club of America, and the BMW Car Club of America Foundation, with the support of Tire Rack, have collectively decided to suspend all Tire Rack Street Survival schools until at least October 1, 2020. This was a very difficult decision reached after consulting with medical experts, our stakeholders and sponsors, and many others.

As a program working so hard to save the lives of teen drivers, protecting the health and safety of everyone involved in our program is our number one priority. As Matt Edmonds of Tire Rack has stated, “It does not make sense endangering lives trying to save a life.” We are grateful for our volunteers and their willingness to put in the many hours needed to make our schools such a success—and to do it safely. We will never take that for granted. Everyone involved is anxious to return to saving teen lives as soon as safely possible. In the meantime, common sense must prevail here with this is unusual and very fluid situation.

We will continue to monitor the situation nationally and in the locales of our potential schools as well as monitoring medical and scientific developments in hopes of resuming our Street Survival schools as soon as possible. We intend to revisit this in the middle of September to determine if this school suspension period will be extended.

The Tire Rack Street Survival program is supported by its generous sponsors and individual donors who share the Foundation’s commitment to ensuring teen driving safety.
