IMSA officials have imposed additional Balance Of Performance restrictions on the M8 GTE that runs in the GTLM class in the WeatherTech Series.

Following the Mid-Ohio IMSA event, the sanctioning body has decreased the M8 GTE’s turbo-boost levels between 3,500 and 7,500 rpm, and has reduced its fuel capacity by four liters. The #24 BMW Team RLL M8 GTE qualified on the pole, and the #25 M8 GTE finished second to the #912 Porsche at Mid-Ohio, perhaps triggering plaintive whinging from other teams in the series. In any case, Porsche did not receive additional restrictions.

The next race for the GTLM class is the Watkins Glen six-hour enduro on July 1.—Brian Morgan
