The S14 is a magical engine. No, by modern standards it is not the most powerful, torquiest, or make for the fastest car, but it sounds incredible. That little beast that dominated race circuits around the world is still at the top of the list for cars that make the best noise.
The best part is that many people are still running them, which shows the longevity of the platform. Drivers can’t get enough. My current obsession is watching videos of rally-prepped E30s. My social algorithm has been filled with forests that come alive with the sound of S14s flying to redline in every gear. It’s magical.
The latest account that’s caught my eye has been Tom Pieri’s, which is just full of his E30 flying, literally, through the forest, that S14 note reverberating through the hills like a symphony. I love it. And while I cannot embed his account here for various reasons, I discovered today that he has a YouTube channel with plenty of in-car footage. I’ve put one below. Please listen to it, love it, and watch it over and over again.
