Who doesn’t love a production parts-bin vehicle? BMW always seems to knock it out of the park with these special creations born from the collective passion of the company’s engineers. With the success of other modern parts-bin specials like the Z3 M Coupe, it’s clear to see why the 2011 E82 1M is such a sought-after vehicle today.
In this video review, Alex McCulloch takes an Alpine White example for a drive and discusses some of the finer points of the chassis. Despite not having an S-code engine and retaining the 135i’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged N54 engine, there is still plenty of power and many M-flavored parts are shared with the larger M3. The 1M’s aggressive bodywork surrounds larger wheels, tires, and brakes, making this small two-door a force to be reckoned with.
So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of McCulloch’s 1M review. —Mike Bevels
