With the 2021 ABB Formula E season about three weeks away, the series has begun its sim racing series, Formula E Accelerate. Kevin Siggy, winner of the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge last year in a simulated BMW iFE.20, is running Formula E Accelerate in an iFE.21. He has finished third in both races run so far this season, including a January 28 race on a simulated Brooklyn circuit, and a February 4 race on a simulated Hong Kong track.
Siggy runs for BMW Team Redline. Petar Brljak, a second BMW racer who runs for BMW Team GB, finished eighteenth in the first race and ninth in race two.
Formula E Accelerate, run on the rFactor 2 platform, has adapted energy management and the attack mode from the actual Formula E series to sim racing. BMW engineers are working with Siggy and Brljak and their teams to train them in effective energy management and attack mode programs.
Race three of the six-race series will be run on the Berlin Tempelhof Airport circuit on February 11.
