Congratulations to this week’s Garage Goals winner, Blue Ridge Chapter member John Hartka! Hartka has won $25 gift cards from Shop BMW CCA and Griot’s Garage thanks to this picture of his M Roadster and 540i Sport!
“Cancelled trips and events have resulted in more time at home,” said Hartka. “My garage is a refuge where I have been enjoying good music and good beverages while maintaining my vehicles and working on household projects. Recently, I have cleaned and organized the garage (finally getting rid of the parts from cars that I no longer own), added some tool storage, and put some new posters and photos on the walls.”
Asked how he discovered the BMW CCA, Hartka said, “I learned about the BMW CCA from members I met back in the ’80s and ’90s when I was autocrossing my Datsun 240Z. They were great people and spoke highly of the club. My sister and her husband joined the BMW CCA after buying their first BMW, a 2000 323Ci. They became very active and made great friends through the club. I sold the 240Z and bought my first BMW, a 2001 330Ci. I joined the BMW CCA as soon as I got home with the car!”
Tell us more about your BMWs!
“My 2000 540i Sport, six-speed is my daily driver. It has a short shifter and rear muffler delete, and is going strong after 242,000 miles. It’s a great highway car, yet is very capable and fun to drive on twisty roads. My 2006 M Roadster is my weekend car. It’s unmodified and has just over 42,000 miles. The S54 engine and lightning-quick chassis reflexes make it an absolute blast to drive. I enjoy taking it on group drives with the local ZSCCA chapter. I autocross both BMWs and I plan on keeping them stock class eligible, so no major modifications are planned.”
