The BMW Car Club of America and the BMW Car Club of America Foundation are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our members, chapter leaders, boards, staff, and guests. Throughout the country, many states have relaxed, or will at least partially relax, their stay-at-home orders. Our current policy is scheduled to expire at 5:00 p.m. ET on June 1. Following careful consideration, it has been decided that this policy will remain in full effect until that expiration date.
From 5:00 p.m. ET on June 1 forward, all entities comprising the BMW Car Club of America and/or the BMW Car Club of American Foundation will be permitted to resume a normal event schedule. However, all events must be run in compliance with state and local law and regulatory bodies. Please note that each chapter and entity is responsible for researching and adhering to the state and local guidelines of the jurisdiction in which their event will be held.
Social-distancing guidelines are vital to stopping the spread of Covid-19. Wherever those guidelines are in effect, all entities are required to maintain them. Where social-distancing guidelines are in mandated, Driving schools are to run with no in-car instructors—a significant departure from our normal operations. If you are uncertain how to meet some of these challenges, please do not hesitate to ask. Beyond the safety and security of our guests, students, members, staff, and leaders, following all state and local guidelines protects the benefits our liability- insurance program. In the face of potential litigation, any failure to meet the state and local health regulations and guidelines could lead our insurer to deny coverage.
Throughout this crisis, we must all remain thoughtful, responsive, and flexible. To better prepare us, on Thursday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m. ET, the club will host a webinar presented by DEC chair Steve Stepanian and Ryan Staub of Lockton Affinity, our insurance broker. We are limited to 100 participants, so priority will be given to chapter officers. If you are unable to participate that evening, the recorded program will be available for viewing at www.bmwcca.org.
The BMW CCA and the BMW CCA Foundation will continue to monitor and review the situation with close attention to our current policies. Updates will be issued as necessary.
The safety and security of our guests, students, members, staff, and leaders is now and will always remain our highest priority. Our thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of Americans who have been sickened by Covid-19. Our greatest hope is that this passes quickly and that we can all resume our normal lives.
As always, thank you for your membership in and support of the BMW Car Club of America and the BMW Car Club of America Foundation. We are here to help in any way we can; please do not hesitate to ask any questions. We look forward to serving our members and providing safe, fun, and educational events in 2020 and beyond.
