This week’s winner of a $25 Shell fuel card in our Fill-Up Friday contest is Puget Sound Chapter member Tim Alfaro, who won with this festive shot of his gorgeous, supercharged E39 Touring filling up with V-Power NiTRO+. And if its tree-hauling abilities weren’t impressive enough, the rest of the details on this E39 are sure to stun.
The car started out as a pedestrian E39, but now runs a blower-equipped S62 V8 and 6-speed transmission out of an E39 M5. The M5 front and rear bumpers, complete with custom M5-style diffuser and exhaust, complete the transformation, as do a set of clean Style 65 wheels.
“It’s very unique” says Tim, appropriately, about his ESS-supercharged wagon, “[it’s] fast, and it has enabled me to meet great people from many places around the world via social media or in person at car events.”
The engineering capability behind this methanol-injected Touring makes sense, as Tim and a couple fellow enthusiasts operate Studio62, a builder of S62- and LS-swapped BMWs.
Since acquiring his first BMW, a 318i, in 1995, Tim has been a member of the BMW Car Club of America. Since then, his favorite part of membership has been “the ability to meet other enthusiasts at BMW CCA events and to share the loe of the cars and culture.”
