Congratulations to Tejas Chapter member Jonna Clark, our latest Shell Fill-Up Friday winner! Jonna’s post featuring her husband’s 2001 M roadster in front of an old Shell station along Route 66 has won her a $25 Shell gift card!
“I’ve been a member since 1995. My husband is the one who got me hooked on BMWs,” says Jonna. “His original car was a 1989 325is, which he has forever regretted selling; he’d love to find another. And it was he who introduced me to the club. At the time we had one BMW, now we have three!”
Asked about her favorite part of membership, she says, “We especially like the camaraderie of being club members and participating in local chapter events with folks who also have a passion for the brand. The people you meet through the club are always varied and interesting. We’ve made some life-long friends through the club!”
Where did she find the vintage Shell staton for the photo? “This picture was taken at the Soulsby Shell Station in Mt. Olive, Illinois, on Route 66. The station was first opened in 1926 and closed in 1991, and only sold Shell gasoline for the entire 65 years,” says Jonna.
About the M roadster, she adds, “We live in Boerne in the Texas Hill Country outside San Antonio, and we stumbled upon this low-mileage, rare Steel Grey S54 just up the road near Kerrville. It desperately needed rescuing, so we paid too much for it and brought it home. Though it didn’t need restoring in the true sense of the word, my husband has worked hard cleaning it up and keeping it original. It’s been on Route 66 with some other Zs, Zfest in Pennsylvania and Branson, and goes on numerous other driving events in our area. And now that we have my Z3, we’re a “hiZ-‘n’-herZ” family, requiring both cars to be taken on Z driving events; the next is Running Thru The LeaveZ in northern Arkansas,” said Jonna.
