Jake Hill Takes Lead In British Touring Car Championship

BMW driver Jake Hill has had a successful season so far in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), taking the lead in the driver’s championship after the Oulton Park rounds on the weekend of June 22-23, 2024. BMW sits second in manufacturer points behind Ford, and the Team BMW is in fourth place in the team points. West Surrey Racing (WSR) fields all three BMWs in the championship, with Colin Turkington and Adam Morgan running under the Team BMW banner and Jake Hill running under the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport banner.

Jake Hill (shown in top photo) got into the points lead with strong performance at Snetterton and Thruxton, along with the most recent rounds at Oulton Park (BTCC holds three rounds per race weekend). Hill won two of the three rounds at Snetterton and two of three rounds at Thruxton. At Oulton Park, he finished third in race two and won race three. Team BMW driver Colin Turkington has also been on the podium, winning two races at Brands Hatch back in May. Morgan hasn’t been on the podium, but has three fourth-place finishes.

Colin Turkington scored two wins at Brands Hatch.

Hill’s third place in race two at Oulton Park was his 50th career podium, then followed that up with a win in race three. “It was a fantastic win for me and the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport BMW,” said Hill. In Race One I made a slight mistake by myself going into the hairpin, but I recovered to finish fifth and only lost one position. In Race Two, I had a nice fight through and a good fight with Dan Cammish and got third, and then starting fourth for the final race we came through to claim the victory, I’m absolutely over the moon. A huge thank you to the WSR team.”

Adam Morgan has three fourth-place finishes.
