Deloitte Orders 140 Electric Minis

BMW Mini SE Deloitte

Deloitte is expanding its Mini SE company car fleet in Europe, and recently placed an order for 140 of the new compact electric vehicle. Deloitte’s interest represents the largest order of electric Minis this year in Europe, and brings the total number in the multinational firm’s fleet to 240, thanks to 100 ordered during August of 2020. With the latest order of 140 Mini SEs included, the company has ordered 540 new Mini vehicles since June of this year.

When opting for a company car, 26% of Deloitte’s employees are said to choose electric. With a global workforce of more than 330,000 that translates to a need for charging infrastructure. For its operations in Belgium, they’ve have 540 charging stations for both EVs and hybrids at the company’s various offices. The trend is expected to continue, as in June, 88% of the company cars ordered at Deloitte were either fully-electric or hybrid models.

Deloitte’s company car fleet is said to account for 70% of its carbon footprint, and the firm has set the goal of being carbon neutral by 2030—the same year Mini is slated to become an all-electric brand.

“All our investments in sustainable mobility are part of Deloitte’s goal to be CO² neutral by 2030. As our fleet accounts for 70% of our carbon footprint, every small and big step brings us closer to carbon neutrality. That’s why we launched a new mobility program in 2017. We have also been working successfully with Mini for many years and I am delighted that we are working with them to increase enthusiasm for electric cars at Deloitte. The fact that one in four new employees now chooses an electric car gives me full confidence that we are on the right track to make Deloitte a pioneer in sustainable mobility,” said Piet Vandendriessche, CEO of Deloitte Belgium.

The BMW Group has established similar goals, and is regarded as the most sustainable automaker, and one of the most sustainable companies in the world.

“Sustainability has been at the heart of Mini for many years. From its inception, the Mini has been the clear example of a car that does more with less. With the complete electrification of the MINI brand by 2030, we are making a clear statement more than ever. The fact that a player like Deloitte, for whom reducing their CO² footprint is key in their sustainability strategy, has been relying on us for thirteen years, proves that we are on the right track. Electrification is the new chapter in the sustainability story that we are writing together,” added Eddy Haesendonck, CEO BMW Group Belux.—Alex Tock
