By this point you’ve heard about the BMW CCA Oktoberfest—the largest annual gathering of BMW club members in the world—to be held in association with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP) this July. And you’ve heard about the two-day Yokohama Driving School as well.
But the Pittsburgh International Race Complex, site of the driving school, will also serve as the host venue for some of Oktoberfest’s other key driving events.
Beginning with the weekend of July 5–8, PIRC will host BMW CCA Club Racing, with competitors traveling in from all over the region. On Thursday and Friday (July 12–13), the BMW CCA will take over PIRC facilities for two full days and host a fantastic lineup of enthusiast events.
The headlining event, of course, is the high-performance driving school sponsored by Yokohama, which uses the full 2.78-mile, nineteen-turn course layout. But in addition, the club will hold our annual O’Fest autocross, sponsored by Tire Rack, in the paddock on Thursday; the Tire Rack A O’Fest autocross welcomes competitors of all skill levels, from novice to expert, to compete in a relaxed and fun environment.
Attendees can also look forward to the Lockton HPDE Insurance Trackside lunch on Thursday, featuring BBQ ribs, chicken, smoked mac-’n’-cheese, and roasted corn.
As if all that weren’t enough, Oktoberfest’s presenting sponsor, Michelin, will host a special driving experience in the paddock, giving track-goers the chance to sample Michelin’s latest high-performance tires. In addition, Michelin will be offering hot-lap rides around PIRC during the driving school on Friday!
