Trying ReachNow in Seattle

Our friends at GeekWire recently did a real-world test of BMW’s new ReachNow car sharing service that was just launched in the Seattle area. With Seattle serving as a test of the new service, BMW has deployed a fleet of 3 series, Minis and i3s for patrons to locate and rent via app. You locate the vehicle and use the app to reserve it. Then you just go to the vehicle, let the app unlock it, and use the car to get where you need to go. Full details on the service are available on http://www.bmwcarsharing.com/

With ReachNow, you find and unlock the car using BMWs ReachNow service app.

GeekWire’s Todd Bishop uses ReachNow to get to the airport, detailing his experience with the ride, app and airport drop off for the car.

For people who have already used the ReachNow service, the beginning of the experience will be very familiar. You simply use the app to locate a ReachNow BMW 3 Series sedan, MINI Cooper, or all-electric BMW i3 anywhere within the ReachNow service area. You reserve the car and unlock it via the app, and go through the normal startup process.

I was happy to find one of the BMW 3 Series sedans on a block near our house. Nothing against the MINI or i3, but it’s a long drive to Sea-Tac, and you might as well do it in style.

Then you drive to the airport. It’s that simple. Well, almost.
