Listing off the stats of this car has me looking like that one Vince McMahon meme, where he casually gets more and more excited. Being an E30 3 Series, this car already has me excited, but it gets progressively better from there. That’s because this isn’t any old 3 Series. It’s a Euro-import, the rarer all-wheel drive 325iX, it’s a wagon, and it’s a manual. If it were brown, it’d have every former Radwood follower swarming all over it. And yet, it just sold on Cars & Bids for $20,000.
In addition to being one of the coolest BMW specs ever, this car was also modified by its current owner to be a rugged off-roader. OK, so it’s next to impossible to turn the E30 3 Series into a proper off-roader. But one can try. So this car has a Intrax custom coilover lift kit 15-inch Sparco Rally wheels, Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires, an aftermarket roof rack, and a Blaupunkt head unit. And despite its more rugged nature, it looks remarkably clean for its age.

Why turn an E30 wagon into an off-roading machine? I believe the better question is: why not? With its 2.5-liter naturally aspirated straight-six, the BMW 325iX makes 168 horsepower and 164 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels first, via a manual transmission, you could have a lot of fun on dirt or in snow with this beast. It also allows a family member to have their cake and eat it, too.
With 142,722 on the odometer, this 3 Series ain’t exactly fresh. But it looks to be in great shape and there are several videos of it running and driving. Does the added ride height suddently turn this into a Jeep Wrangler rival? No, of course not. But it’s certainly a ton of fun on a dirt road or in the snow and it’ll be unlike any other Bimmer you’ll see on the road in the ‘States.
