With over 300 BMW Car Club of America members, hundreds of classic and new BMWs, perfect weather, and a variety of enthusiast-centered events, the 2024 BimmerLife MiX Enthusiast Weekend set the bar for BMW celebration weekends.
BimmerLife MiX, presented by Continental Tire, is BMW CCA’s annual event celebrating BMW’s M, i, and, X vehicles. BMW enthusiasts from across the country converged on the BMW CCA headquarters in Greer, SC, for festivities that started on Thursday, April 18, and continued through the weekend.
Kicking off with informal dinners, the full event began Friday morning with the X Chapter welcome breakfast at the host Hotel Hartness. Then things got started at BMW CCA headquarters with registration, a BMW Plant Spartanburg tours of the Factory Body Shop, free test drives of new BMWs provided by BMW North America, and a half-day session at the BMW Performance Center, featuring skid pad competition, hot laps, and off-road driving. The day continued with a talk by Steve Saxty, author of the recently released BMW by Design books, an X Chapter “Paint your Bimmer” activity, and wrapped up with a happy hour sponsored by Thunder Bunny Racing, and a showing of BMW’s “The Hire” at the host hotel.
Saturday got started with Caffiene & Gasoline® (cars and coffee) sponsored by Griot’s Garage. Hundreds of BMWs, vendor tents of all sorts, and more filled the BMW CCA headquarters display field and property for the morning’s big event. BMW brought a wide array of classic BMWs for display, including every generation of M5 in honor of it’s 40th anniversary. The show field had BMWs ranging from the round-taillight 2002 models to tuned-to-the-max-with-carbon-everywhere latest models. Additional morning events included a kids version of “Paint your Bimmer” and an X Chapter drive to Mountain Brook Vineyards.
After the car show wrapped up, the afternoon events got revved up. The BMW Performance Center hosted a time trial afternoon session where members competed in their own vehicles. At the BMW CCA headquarters, BMW test drives resumed, Steve Saxty held another discussion about BMW by Design, and members enjoyed watching the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Saturday evening saw formal events conclude with the dinner buffet and a silent auction benefitting the charitable BMW CCA Foundation.
