Turner Motorsport To Contest SRO GT World Challenge America

The SRO Fanatec GT World Challenge America season will start the weekend of April 5-7,2024, and Turner Motorsport will be on the grid with an M4 GT3 entered for Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg. With the addition of the Turner car, there will be three M4 GT3s contesting the championship in two different classes. Rothberg will also race an M4 GT3 in the single-driver GT America races.
Foley and Rothberg will race the #29 M4 GT3 in the Pro-Am class.

Foley, of course, has been with Turner Motorsport and BMW for years, but Rothberg is new to BMW and to the series. The 22-year-old has competed in 21 races in the Ferrari Challenge series and racked up six podium finishes last year, clinching the 2023 P-Am championship in a 488 Challenge Evo. “I’m excited to move up into a more completive form of racing with a team that has a proven track record and a co-driver with solid experience as a coach,” said Rothberg. “I’m excited to learn a new type of car. The BMW M4 felt familiar at the test, despite being my first front engine.”

Foley has raced in SRO GT World Challenge before and races the same car in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for Turner Motorsport. “I’m super excited to be back in SRO full time after a hiatus in 2023. I’m looking forward to joining Justin, who is a great young talent who’s had success in his career already,” said Foley. “I’ll do my best to teach him what he doesn’t know and to mentor him into these more advanced races with pit stops and driver changes. We’ve already tested for a day, and he’s shown that he is naturally talented. He’ll have a great group around him to get him up to speed, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Both Turner Motorsport M4 GT3s will have a different look than what BMW racing fans are used to, wearing black, blue, and white LATICRETE livery. LATICRETE is a global manufacturing company that was founded by Rothberg’s grandparents, Henry and Lillian Rothberg, in 1956. “It’s special to continue my grandfather and grandmother’s legacy,” said Rothberg. “It’ll be great to have clients come out to the racetrack and actually get to meet and get them involved and have it be more than just a product they use at the jobsite.”

We’ll be seeing BMWs race against each other in SRO GT World Challenge this year, as Foley and Rothberg will be competing against the ST Racing duo of Samantha Tan and Neil Verhagen in the Pro-Am class. Another M4 GT3 entered by ST Racing will be competing in the Pro class driven by Bill Auberlen and Varun Choksey. The 2024 SRO season kicks off at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California on April 5th-7th, with races streamed on YouTube and Twitch. -David Haueter
