BMW Motorsport Shows Off DTM Liveries

We shared the news at the end of last month that Walkenhorst Motorsport and Schubert Motorsport will contest the DTM series with the new M4 GT3, and both teams have now shared their official liveries for the cars. In typical motorsport fashion, each of them displays the designs, colors, and logos of their primary sponsors.

Two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann will drive the “Green Machine” for Walkenhorst Motorsport, with primary sponsorship from Schaeffler, which has been a primary sponsor of Wittmann since the 2019 DTM season. Newcomer Esteban Muth will drive an M4 GT3 adorned with the logos of BMW M Motorsport partners CATL and iQOO.

Shell has also been a sponsor of BMW Motorsport for years and will sponsor the M4 GT3 driven by Sheldon van der Linde for Schubert Motorsport. Shell is a premium technology partner for BMW Motorsport and was involved in the development of the BMW M4 GT3. Philipp Eng will also drive for Schubert Motorsport with primary sponsorship from RoboMarkets. Puma logos also adorn all four cars, as BMW Motorsport has a long-standing relationship with Puma to provide racewear for their works drivers.

“The face of the DTM may have changed after the end of the Class 1 era, but it has not lost any of its appeal when it comes to race action, the impressive number of competitors signed up for this season, and the high-class field of teams and drivers,” said Timo Resch, vice president of customer, brand, and sales at BMW M GmbH. “I am thrilled that, as we do, our long-term BMW M Motorsport partners continue to recognize the huge potential of the DTM platform and have decided to support the BMW M Motorsport teams in 2022. I really like all the BMW M4 GT3 designs. They will be real eye-catchers in a large field. Thank you to all the partners for their support!”

Which one is your favorite? I think they all look great but am partial to the Shell-sponsored car entered by Schubert Motorsport.—David Haueter
