Paul Miller Racing, one of the mainstay teams in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) GTD class, will compete with the BMW M4 GT3 in the 2022 season with drivers Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow. The team has been racing with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for the last six seasons.

This will be the first time in the history of the IWSC that another team besides BMW Team RLL or Turner Motorsport has raced a BMW, and it gives BMW another team that is very capable of winning a championship. Paul Miller Racing won the GTD class team, manufacturer, and driver championships in 2018, and won the North American Endurance Cup championship in 2020. They finished in second place in the GTD class championship in 2021.

Team owner Paul Miller has a long history in racing as a driver and team owner, and owns a large BMW dealership (Paul Miller BMW) in Wayne, New Jersey. “We’re excited to tackle this new challenge with BMW,” said team owner Paul Miller. “As someone who has been intimately involved with BMW as a dealer for over 20 years, I’ve seen firsthand the performance of their road cars and watched their success in competition. So, we are excited to join them on the motorsports side! The M4 GT3 is a very impressive race car with tremendous originality infused in its design. I’m looking forward to us racing it in IMSA starting in March.”

The team was originally not supposed to receive their new M4 GT3 until April, but BMW Motorsport is working to get the car completed in time for the team to compete with it at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March. “I’m really excited to be back with Paul Miller Racing in 2022 and to be able to race the new M4 GT3 car,” said driver Bryan Sellers. “Madison and I were able to check it out at Road Atlanta at the end of the season and the reviews from everyone that has driven it so far have been super positive. The M6 has been a formidable competitor the past few seasons, and I expect the M4 GT3 to meet or exceed that level of performance on track. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is going to be a tough series again this year, but Madison and I work really well together, and I’m excited to keep that going in 2022 and hopefully take home some hardware with this team!”

Having another BMW in the IWSC series will be great for BMW racing fans and will give BMW a better shot at winning the GTD class manufacturer championship, since they will now have two entries rather than a single entry from Turner Motorsport.—David Haueter
