At the end of each racing season, BMW Motorsport awards the BMW Sports Trophy to the privateer driver and team that scored the most points racing a BMW in a pro series. American driver Sean Quinlan won the Sports Trophy for drivers with his performance behind the wheel of the Cameron Racing M4 GT4 that he raced in the SRO GT4 America and GT America championships.

Quinlan drove to six class wins in the GT America series where he finished second overall in the championship, and had one win and four other podium finishes in the GT4 America series, where he shared the M4 GT4 with Greg Liefooghe. He finished third in the driver’s championship in that series. “It is a great honor for me to win the Driver competition,” said Quinlan. “The BMW M Sports Trophy was a big thing for us this year, and we kept an eye on the points to see whether we might achieve a top result. Thank you to BMW M Motorsport for the fantastic support throughout the entire season. I am already really looking forward to next season, in which we will start in the IMSA series.”

Quinlan and Liefooghe will be back in a Stephen Cameron Racing M4 GT4 in 2022, but will focus on the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series rather than SRO.

FK Performance Motorsport won the Team Sports Trophy, where driver Ben Green won the DTM Trophy in an M4 GT4. The team also had an entry in the M2 CS Racing Cup NLS, which was part of the Nürburgring Endurance Series. American team Stephen Cameron Racing (that fielded the Sean Quinlan entries) finished in fifth in the team standings.

Turner Motorsport driver Robby Foley also finished in the top ten in the Driver Sports Trophy in sixth, with wins in the M6 GT3 in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar series and SRO GT World Challenge America, as well as in the M4 GT4 in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series.—David Haueter
