On July 8, just before its Brooklyn event, the ABB Formula E Series announced its calendar for Season 8. Most of the series’ popular street circuits are back, with new races added in Cape Town, South Africa in February, Vancouver, British Columbia in June, and Seoul, South Korea, where the season is slated to end with a double header in August.
Paris, France, not on the 2022 calendar, will return in 2023, when the series’ Generation 3 cars will compete for the first time. The June 2022 TBD date on the calendar will reportedly be filled by an event in Jakarta, Indonesia, although a formal announcement has not yet been made. Unlike previous FE seasons that have wrapped around calendar years, Season 8 will begin in January 2022 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The calendar posted by the series on July 8 appears here.
Formula E CEO Jamie Riegle said “Formula E wants to race in the most iconic cities in the world.” The series is unique both because of its electric formula cars and its commitment to racing on the streets of major cities worldwide.
