Scott Reiman Becomes BMW CCA Club Racing Chair

Scott Reiman has become chair of the Tire Rack BMW CCA Club Racing program, replacing Shaun McKenzie, who had led the program since mid-2019. Reiman, who joined BMW CCA in 2004, attended a BimmerWorld BMW CCA Club Racing school at Watkins Glen in 2006, and began racing that weekend in an E30 325is. In 2009, he replaced that car with an E36 M3 that he has raced in the series’ I-Prepared class ever since. He has served as Director of the BimmerWorld Club Racing school since January of this year.

In the club’s announcement of the change in leadership, BMW CCA President Steve Johnson said, “The BMW Car Club of America is saddened to announce the departure of BMW CCA Club Racing Chair, Shaun McKenzie. Shaun took over the helm of Club Racing during a tumultuous time and has the gratitude and appreciation of the Board for his efforts. We all hope to see Shaun at future events and certainly at the track.

“Accordingly, we are pleased to announce Scott Reiman will be assuming the duties of Chair of BMW CCA Club Racing. Scott will take over as Club Racing completes what can only be termed a successful, if abbreviated, racing season during the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope you will all join with me in offering your congratulations, your support, and assistance as he takes over the reins and charts a course for 2021.”

When asked about the strengths of the program today, Reiman says, “I would say it is the dedication and commitment of the volunteers who provide their time and energy to the program—it underpins the spirit of BMW Club Racing. Someone recently told me we have “something special in the paddock”—our volunteers make that possible.”

When asked about what most needs to be improved, he says, “We need to continue the excellent progress made during the 2020 season in increasing “RR&P”—races, racers, and participation. We’re finalizing the ‘21 schedule now, which I’m confident will help us in all three areas.

Reiman notes that, “The milestone that would undeniably secure a good ’21 for us will be to see Covid-19 in the rearview.”

“In 2020, BMW CCA Club Racing celebrated its 25th anniversary. While it hasn’t been an easy year for celebrations, we’d love to have more of the BMW community join us as we begin our second 25-year stint.”—Brian Morgan
