Round 2: Isolation Island Concours d’Elegance

No, it’s not déjà vu—this week is another chance to enter the growing Isolation Island Concours d’Elegance, a concours featuring more financially accessible entries (of diecast cars), judged by real-world concours judges!

In case you missed last week, the Isolation Island Concours is a social isolation solution to address the lack of concours events. With the cancellations of major concours events, including most recently The Quail and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and the postponement of others, like Italy’s Villa d’Este, the Isolation Island “show” is one of the opportunities to appreciate the visual appeal of fine vintage automobiles and share the stories of liveries, models, or the vehicles themselves through the online medium.

A striking, period-liveried 1982 BMW E28 528i, submitted by Cedrick Willems.

As with last week, the format is laid out on the Isolation Island Concours d’Elegance Facebook page, but enthusiasts are eligible to enter models of any BMW from 1929-2006, in either racing or street guise, and—much like a real concours—are encouraged to share stories about what makes the car (or the particular diecast model) special.

Oh, and don’t forget: the judges for the BMW category are none other than Eric Keller of Enthusiast Auto Group, and Tom Plucinsky, Department Head, BMW Group Product and Technology Communications. So, if you’ve ever wanted to show off your personal collection of BMW models to some of the most experienced connoisseurs of vintage and classic BMWs, now is your chance!

As with most concours, the Isolation Island event does benefit charities, by encouraging a donation of at least $5 to a charity of your choice. Enter your models by following the instructions on the Isolation Island Facebook page—we look forward to reading them!—David Rose
