BMW race cars will return to the track for the first time in 2020 in the Roar Before the Rolex 24 test days at Daytona on January 3–5. In the IMSA WeatherTech Series BMW Team RLL will be on hand with its M8 GTEs and Turner Motorsport will be there with its M6 GT3. The marque will be represented in the Michelin Pilot Challenge by two M4 GT4s each from BimmerWorld and Turner, and one M4 GT4 from Classic BMW.
The two front-engine M8 GTEs will be running along with five mid-engine cars in the GTLM class, including two new Corvette Racing C8.Rs, two new Porsche GT Team 911 RSRs, and a Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE. The lone Turner M6 GT3 will be running in the eighteen-car GTD class that includes entrants from Acura, Aston-Martin, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mercedes, and Porsche.
The Michelin Pilot Series M4 GT4s will run as part of a 26-car class that includes cars from Aston-Martin, Audi, Chevrolet, Ford, Lamborghini, Lexus, McLaren, Mercedes, and Porsche. The entry lists for both series and more information on the event appear here. The pre-event entry lists do not name drivers.
The Roar is a prelude to the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the four-hour Michelin Pilot Series season opener that will run on January 23–26.—Brian Morgan
