2020 BMW CCA Club Racing Schedule Released

The Tire Rack BMW CCA Club Racing series released its 2020 schedule on December 14. The schedule includes eighteen races, four time trial events, and six BimmerWorld BMW Club Racing Schools.

The season begins and ends in the South Atlantic region; the first race of the year is a new Peachtree Chapter event on February 28–March 1 at Road Atlanta, and the finale is the perennial Tarheel Chapter event at Roebling Road Raceway on December 11–13. In between there are events in every region of the country, and in Canada.

Among the highlights are a new event at Barber Motorsports Park hosted by the Heart of Dixie Chapter on May 30–31, a Stuttgart to Munich challenge, in which Porsche racers are invited to join the BMWs at the New Jersey Chapter’s June 8–9 Thunderbolt Raceway event, and the Trillium Chapter’s CanAm Challenge at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on July 31–August 2.

Time trials provide an opportunity to step up from driving schools for advanced HPDE students. Participants run against the clock in HPDE-prepared cars; cars prepped to Club Racing specs are not required. The calendar lists time trials at High Plains Raceway in May, Watkins Glen in August, Pueblo Motorsports Park in September, and Summit Point Raceway in October.

Six BimmerWorld Club Racing Schools are scheduled across the US and in Canada.

The 2020 season marks the 25th anniversary of Club Racing. Celebrations are planned in conjunction with races at Auto Club Speedway in May, Road Atlanta in August, and Watkins Glen in October.

Club Racing chairman Shaun McKenzie says, “Our 25th Anniversary of BMW CCA Club Racing provides us a unique opportunity to look back and appreciate all the work our founding racers did to establish this great racing series. It’s also a critical pivot point as we look forward, shape to our future and engage the next generation of racers and BMW CCA Club Racing leaders.”

“This year we’re pleased to fully introduce the BMW CCA Club Racing Time Trials program. The Time Trial Program offers a great opportunity for the true driving enthusiast really stretch their legs. We see it has a mid-term step between the HPDE and the full bore experience of BMW CCA Club Racing.”

“We’re grateful to the Lone Star Chapter and Heart of Dixie Chapter for helping us extend our footprint via our COTA and Barber races. It’s a calculated risk and we’re hoping our racers will “vote with their pocketbook” and travel to these great tracks and support the local chapters.”
