Macau (CHN) 18th November 2018. BMW M Motorsport, FIA-GT World Cup, Charly Lamm (GER) Team principal BMW Team Schnitzer, #42 BMW Team Schnitzer (GER) BMW M6 GT3, Augusto Farfus (BRA).

Augusto Farfus in the #42 BMW Team Schnitzer M6 GT3 won the FIA GT World Cup race on the Guia circuit on the streets of Macau on November 18. The win marked a successful finish to the career of the legendary Charly Lamm, who is stepping down as Schnitzer team principal after decades of leading the team.

Farfus won the Saturday qualifying race, and then, starting from the pole, he led from flag to flag in the main race on Sunday, holding off Maro Engel in a Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Lamm’s career at Schnitzer has included championships in Touring Cars, DTM, and multiple national series, as well as endurance race wins at Le Mans, the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring, and the 24 Hours of Spa, among many other venues.

After the Macau win Lamm said, “A dream came true. This place is magical, the races here are always a season highlight. We have raced here with BMW touring cars for many years, and we have fielded the BMW M6 GT3 in Macau since 2017. My thanks go to BMW that we were able to compete here again this year. Even though there were no overtaking maneuvers during the race, you could feel the intense suspense throughout. Augusto couldn’t afford to make even the smallest mistake, otherwise his rivals would have pounced. He drove a perfect race. I have experienced many wonderful moments in my racing career – and the win today was definitely one of them.”
