Free Membership Renewal Winner: Quenton Smith!

Free year of BMW CCA membership? Wait what? We can win a free year of membership? Correct, we were not making that up with our announcements earlier this year. Every month, we will be awarding a free renewal year of membership to the member who refers the most new members that month! It’s that simple.

For January, Michiana Chapter member Quenton Smith takes the Monthly Membership Drive honors—and the free year of membership—for referring five new members in January. But he has also therefore already stockpiled $25 in BMW CCA bucks ($5 for each referral), so in a sense, he has already earned nearly $75 toward BMW CCA membership and merchandise—and that was just through January!

Quenton has also already almost qualified for the quarterly contest, too! Through this year’s Membership Drive, with a minimum of six referrals in a quarter, members qualify for the quarterly contest in which the member referring the most new members that quarter wins a minimum half page profile in Roundel magazine and a $150-value swag bag from Michelin! Second place will be $50 toward merchandise in the BMW CCA store and third place will be $25 toward merchandise in the BMW CCA store. But since you need six referrals to qualify, just participating means you will already have earned $30 in BMW CCA bucks!

How many referrals will the winner need to win in February? What can you do to get those referrals? One way is get visibility to your referral link: www.bmwcca.org/join/###### (with your member number in those last six digits). That will pre-populate your member number as they complete their membership application.

Quenton offered a little peek into his success. “I refer the club to any BMW owner or possible (soon-to-be owner) if they show an interest in the marque and seem like they would find all the many things the club offers interesting…or something they want to find out more about.”

He personally likes the club for Roundel magazine and for the discounts, but you and the people you refer might like it for any number of club benefits. Direct people to our new Membership Benefits summary page that we will be updating periodically with new images, too. Talk to people at work. Print cards and hand them to people in parking lots—share the passion! Post something to your Facebook or Instagram accounts. Ask your friends with current BMWs when they’ll be renewing a lease or buying a new one and make sure they’re in the club so they can get the rebate as a member after a complete year of membership.

And don’t stop at just “that type of BMW” owner. Quenton, for example, owns a 2006 X5 4.4 but also a 1997 E38 740iL—his favorite of the six BMWs he’s owned. Our club members come in all car sizes—some like the classics like E24s and E30, while some are already laughing that we just called those classics with amazing 328s, 507s and 700s in their garages. Others might join because they love tracking and auto-crossing their E36—or they don’t yet know they will love it! And others just leased a new five series that they’ll turn in 36 months from now for another one…but maybe you can save them $1000 on it by getting them in the club.

But even if you think, “Wow, Quenton has raised the bar! I’m busy with work and family…how will I refer that many people to win?” Prospective members are out there; many just don’t know about the club or the benefits. And even if you don’t win a given month, referring an average of two new members per month makes you eligible for the quarterly contest of first, second or third place. And for some, more importantly, every referral is an entry into the Recruiters Contest drawing at the end of the year for a one-day M School at the BMW Performance Center East or West. And with ten referrals throughout the entire year (less than one per month), you will instead be entered into the Membership Driver Drawing for the Grand Prize Package! The package includes a $500 car care package from Griot’s, a $1,200 tire certificate from Michelin and a two-day M school at the BMW Performance Center, including two nights lodging. That’s more than a $5,500 value!
